ARIEL: THE SWIMMER PUPPY

Soon after Deuce and Tres were settled, Mary and Mike received another request from Evergreen Animal Protective League (EAPL) to foster a "swimmer puppy": swimmer puppies struggle to walk, as their legs don’t push them off the ground, merely along it (‘swimming’ along the ground)

Mary looked at Mike, they both shrugged and said, "What difference would one more make........?"

EAPL sent links to the puppy's info and a video showing the puppy "swimming":

Although the puppy had been named "Steph" at the shelter, an EAPL volunteer's daughter had seen the video and dubbed her, "Ariel".

The next week Ariel travelled from Texas to Colorado via a transport. Mike and Mary met the transport and Ariel saw her first glimpse of Colorado.

The trip was long and tiring so

Ariel drowsed on the way home:

Ariel began her leg therapy immediately and, strangely enough, one of her exercises was swimming:

Life isn't all work for Ariel

and she has gained the use of her back legs:

Ariel is now looking for her forever family.

She has been x-rayed and she does not have muscle or bone deformities.

She does need continued exercise, massage and swimming therapy to work out the reamining stiffness in her back right leg.
